Horsehide tanned by long-established tanner Shinki Leather
This horsehide is tanned and finished by Shinki Leather, a long-established Japanese tannery that is attracting attention from around the world. The horsehide is vegetable tanned, giving it a moderate firmness and lightness. The surface of the leather is semi-aniline finished, using a good balance of black dyes and pigments, and you can enjoy the "brown core" that is a characteristic aging process of Flat Head horsehide.
Special stitching that is characteristic of vintage denim jackets
The stitching is done in two colors, mainly orange, reminiscent of denim jackets, with brown thread used in some areas. Both colors stand out very much against the black leather, and any imperfections in the stitching will be very noticeable, so this requires high-level sewing skills.
Details typical of a 50's Type II jacket
The action pleats on the front and back are an essential detail of a 50's jacket. When pleating horsehide, which is thicker and harder than denim, the overlapping of the leather makes the sewn area even thicker and harder, making the sewing process much more difficult. To beautifully finish such a difficult detail requires high skill.
A vibrant rayon twill fabric
The lining is made of rayon twill. The smooth and soft rayon allows the arms to move freely when worn and reduces snagging when layered. Rayon twill is made of rayon fibers woven in a twill weave, giving it strength and smoothness as a lining, and the elegant luster and vivid color characteristic of rayon enhance the appeal of the leather jacket.
Original parts
The buttons and rivets on the cuffs are also original parts. The iron buttons and copper rivets will change over time, and will develop a unique texture along with the leather jacket.
